Welcome to my website! Read about my favourite books, my life as a writer, and the books I've had published (two so far - hopefully more to come :-)

Thank you to the Arts Council of Northern Ireland for agreeing to support me with a lottery funded grant under the Support for

Individual Artists Program.

Here's a picture of me looking wistful - I'm holding a copy of a Philip Pullman book and wishing I was half as successful (or good) a writer as he is.

Name: Sarah Wray (before I was married it was Sarah Green, also I have a middle name - Rachel)

Born: 12/06/1969 Grew up in Formby in Merseyside. I went to Woodlands Junior school and Range High School.

Educated: I did my A levels at Kitson College in Leeds, and then went to Queen's University Belfast and did Genetics.

Married: I met my husband Paul at University, and stayed in Belfast to marry him in 1991

Kids: I have three kids - Rebecca (born 1994), Daniel (born 1995) and Christy (1997). The picture is a family portrait taken in 2007. The kids look really different now - the boys are much taller and look much more teenagey and Rebecca (Becca or Bex) now has trendy hair and piercings!

Favourite Movie: Moulin Rouge, now closely followed by Mamma Mia, oh, and I like Amelie too, and anything with Johnny Depp in it. If they made a movie of The Forbidden Room, Johnny Depp would have to play John Holland. Or I'd have a hissy fit. (And Johnny Depp would also have to be in the movie of The Trap - he could be Drew.)

Favourite TV Shows: At the moment I'm loving Breaking Bad, Big Bang Theory, House, Dexter, CSI. I also like QI (I heart Alan Davies and Stephen Fry) never mind the buzzcocks (I like the old ones with Bill Bailey  and Simon Amstell) and Have I got news for you - I'm still loving Bargain Hunt which my children still think is very sad.

Favourite Book: Too many to mention (see my life is a booklist), although an enduring favourite is Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.

Currently Reading:  Restoration (The World House) - Guy Adams

(If you want to know what I've read recently, and what I thought of it, check out the I just read... page.)

Favourite food: ChineseHot and Sour soup (mmm mmm mmm!) and everything else except shellfish and sushi (yuck!)

Pets:We have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel called Roxie, a cat called Lucy, several goldfish and minnows, Rebecca has a rat called Gomer and Christy now has a new corn snake called fluffy! Ooh - fluffy just shed his skin for the first time - how exciting! (Gomer the rat passed away 28/09/09 - RIP Gomer)

Update on fluffy: Christy sold Fluffy the snake (!!) in July 2010 because he wanted money to buy a PS3. I have mixed feelings. I was quite fond of Fluffy, although never completely happy with having him slithering on me. I think he's gone to a better home though - the family we sold him to have had snakes before and were much less wussy with him than we were. Roxie, Lucy and the fish are still doing well :-)

Bibliography: I've written loads of books(see The I Wonder Years), but most of them didn't get published . The first book that did get published is  THE FORBIDDEN ROOM, and my second book THE TRAP is out now!

Hobbies: I like reading (see My Life is a Booklist), writing (well duh), going for walks with Roxie, watching movies (I like foreign movies with subtitles), doing word and number puzzles (yeah, okay, I'm a bit of a nerd) and embroidery (worse than nerdy - but I like it). I just won a box of artist pencils that turn into watercolours if you add water, so I'm about to become a renowned artist.

If I ever get rich and famous, my hobbies will change to: Shopping, eating out, going to premieres, taking trips on my private yacht, house buying,  world travel, dinner parties with Johnny Depp, I could go on... (I'll stop typing now though because I'm in a happy little make-believe world...mmm Johnny Depp....)
